HOME THE CHILD CARE ACTION TRUST provides CONDUCTIVE EDUCATION at it's STEP TOGETHER Centres to teach children with cerebral palsy and other 'motor' related disorders how to cope with everyday life through meaningful activities and group dynamics. Conductive Education, which is based on the Hungarian 'Peto' System of Rehabilitation, motivates the individuals in the group to solve problems and encourages other members to praise their success and to delight in their achievements. The group comprising of the team of Hungarian Conductors, the Classroom Assistants and the Children is a very powerful and all encompassing entity. Individuals learn new ways to achieve their full potential. The Conductor acts as a facilitator for learning and will develop individual programmes to ensure that individuals are guided towards realistic and meaningful goals. Conductive Education also encourages the integration of disabled people into society through cognitive, communicational and social processes. * * * * * In July 2008 The Child Care Action Trust STEP TOGETHER CENTRE moved from the temporary old 'demountable' building at the rear of The Meadows School, Spennymoor to the centre's new home, in a newly constructed building, located at the Evans Business Centre at Newton Aycliffe.
The welcomed move to these units at Newton Aycliffe in 2008 will now enable The Child Care Action Trust to provide its STEP TOGETHER CENTRE with the much needed separate kitchen and other staff facilities that were not possible in the previous, temporary, buildings. This new quiet and peacful location, with spacious and airy classrooms, enables our staff to provide the quality of Conductive Education that the children deserve.
